Pressure from above and below: Understanding the Root and Head Centres in Human Design
I have pressure on my mind today.
Deconditioning in real time
On the fear of lacking depth, the pressure to prove, patience and the art of noticing
Human Design Projectors: Aura, being seen, recognition & invitations....and working with the lighthouse metaphor
I had my sister visiting me this week and if you are familiar with the Northern Rivers region you’ll know that the Byron Bay lighthouse walk is one of the must-do activities in the area…and for good reason! An incredibly beautiful walk along the coastline of the most easterly point of Australia and home to stunning views and incredible wildlife….koalas, wallabies, birds, whales (when in season), dolphins and more.
And as we walked, paused for koala spotting, and slowly made our way up to the lighthouse, I was reminded of the lighthouse metaphor for Projectors and felt called to share this with you as it is one of my favourite ways to describe what it means to be a Projector in Human Design.
Let’s dive in.
Where Human Design meets cyclical living
You know that feeling when you said you’d do something, and then the time comes and you don’t really feel like it?
This feeling is one I know well, and something I’ve been thinking on recently.
Lessons from each profile line in Human Design
I’ve been reflecting recently on the fact that while we each have our own personal profile in Human Design, I believe every line carries a universal teaching and offers us an invitation to learn, grow and evolve.
And although your profile is determined by your Personality and Design Sun and Earth placements, the truth is that your entire chart contains expressions of all six lines, and of course the transits activate these energies in different ways day-to-day. So even if you identify strongly with your own profile, you’re still influenced by the full spectrum of these profile line themes.
The Contradictory Nature of Human Design
The more I dive into Human Design and the more charts I read, the more I notice the contradictions, these opposing energies, paradoxes and tensions that exist within the same chart.
I wonder if you’ve noticed them too?
Types of emotional waves in Human Design
I felt called to dive into the emotional wave with you today, something that I see as one of the pinnacle components of Human Design. In full disclosure, I have an undefined Solar Plexus, and therefore don’t experience an emotional wave, but I know that when people discover they have an emotional authority, that this in itself is life-changing. You may have spent your entire life feeling like you can’t trust your gut, you’re indecisive, not intuitive, too emotional or unstable, too moody and so finding out about your emotional wave brings a huge sigh of relief as you realise there’s nothing wrong with you, you’re just different.
Personality vs Design in Human Design: Understanding the Two Sides of You
You’ll notice when you look at your Human Design chart, that there are two columns with planets and gates: one on the right hand side and one on the left.
I know my first inclination when I was starting to explore my Human Design was to pay more attention to the personality side. But what I’ve learned as I’ve deepened my studies in Human Design and gone onto become a reader, is that both sides are equally important. And you are both. Your chart is not split into two. Your Personality and Design come together to create your full expression and influence how you operate, relate, act and respond.
And understanding the difference between them and the different ways they influence you can help bring clarity, self-compassion and insight into how you navigate life.
So with that being said, let’s explore these two sides of your chart in a little more detail.
“Follow your Strategy and Authority”…but what does this actually mean?
In Human Design circles there is a very commonly used phrase “follow your Strategy and Authority.”
But with so many moving parts to explore in Human Design - energy centres, gates, channels, profile, incarnation cross, variables, planets and more - it’s easy to overlook the basics in favour of the more intricate pieces. So today we are taking it back to the foundations of Strategy and Authority, because without a solid foundation, everything else will start to wobble.
The paradox of pressure
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about pressure and almost the irony that the more pressure you place on yourself (or something you’re doing), the harder it becomes.
And while there are so many ways in which pressure shows up across our lives, one pattern I notice time and time again is the way many clients - and honestly, myself in the past - approach healing.
Redefining Value: Why Time and Money Don’t Tell the Whole Story
As a society we tend to have quite a narrow view on the relationship between time, money and value. This is something I’ve definitely had to work through for myself, and if I’m honest, it still pops up from time to time. The occasional thought will creep in when I try to relate the worth of something in terms of the amount of time or money invested.
And of course this is understandable. After all, we’re taught from such a young age to see the equation in simple terms: one hour of time spent equals one unit of return, one hour of work equals one unit of pay. But in reality, value doesn’t always live neatly inside the hours we clock.
Supporting Children Through the School Holidays with Human Design
As it is school holidays here in Australia, I thought I’d share a few insights from the perspective of Human Design for all the parents in the midst of navigating long days, a busy house and many spinning plates.
For children, school holidays bring a break from structure and routine and every child experiences this freedom differently. Some thrive with endless activities and stimulation, while others need more space, rest or gentle rhythm.
And for parents, school holidays can feel like a juggling act as you try to keep everyone happy, engaged and sane while also preserving a little peace for yourself.
This is where Human Design offers such a gift. It helps us see why children need different things and how to support their unique energy so that holidays feel less stressful and more joyful.
Let’s dive in…
Dear Projector, you are not lazy. You are efficient.
While there are many paths I could go down when sharing about the Projector energy type, today I want to focus on one of their most underrated gifts which is efficiency.
So Projectors have this innate ability to hone in, see deeply and understand people, places and systems. They have this knack for reading energy, managing it wisely and guiding others to do the same. Projectors are very perceptive, insightful and they hold this incredible gift of seeing the potential, seeing where things can be improved and seeing how to make things more efficient. Projectors are very wise and this wisdom comes not from doing more, but in recognising what doesn’t need to be done and what can be done differently.
The (not so) fine line between outsourcing and support
When you hear the word outsourcing you might think of business or work delegation, perhaps a company outsourcing certain tasks, services or operations, but today I’m talking about outsourcing on a more personal level.
Because I see outsourcing so often not only in the health, wellbeing and personal development space, but also in my work as a midwife and of course I have my own story with this also. A story of being caught in the cycle of looking for something or someone to have the answers, fix me, handle something for me or tell me what to do.
