About: Hypnotherapy

For many people, when they hear the word hypnotherapy it brings with it a tangle of preconceptions. And I’m here to change that because hypnotherapy isn’t what you might have been led to believe.

Hypnotherapy is evidence-based and a powerful therapeutic approach that uses the natural state of hypnosis to create lasting change in the way you think, feel and respond.

Hypnotherapy quietens the chatter of your conscious mind so we can gently access your subconscious….the part of your mind that holds habits, beliefs, emotions and memories.

By working at this deeper level, hypnotherapy can help you:

  • Release unhelpful patterns or limiting beliefs.

  • Calm fears, doubts and anxiety.

  • Build new ways of thinking and responding that support your goals.

  • Create positive changes that last well beyond our sessions.

As a hypnotherapist I practice two styles of hypnotherapy - Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) and conversational hypnosis. While both approaches work with the subconscious mind, they do so in different ways and in my practice I often blend these together intuitively depending on what is most needed.

Rapid Transformational therapy:

Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) was created by leading therapist Marisa Peer and is unique in the way it combines principles of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, neurolinguistic programming, cognitive behavioural therapy, neuroscience, and neuroplasticity to deliver fast, effective and long-lasting results.

Through Rapid Transformational Therapy we can discover the life experiences (typically from childhood) that have created unhelpful, negative or limiting beliefs that are holding you back. Once you understand the root cause of a particular problem or challenge you are facing, we are then able to rewire and reprogram new beliefs leading to profound healing and incredible change.

While I offer an intuitive and personalised approach, an RTT session typically involves elements of relaxation, regression, inner child work, parts work and reprogramming of unhelpful thought patterns to supportive, positive and empowering beliefs that align with your vision.

Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT)

  • Is more structured and uses formal hypnosis to access root causes.

  • Involves regression to specific memories to understand and reframe them.

  • Uses a personalised transformational recording to rewire beliefs at a subconscious level.

  • Is often a single, focused session followed by a period of integration.

Unlike traditional hypnotherapy which is a more guided & structured process by the hypnotherapist, this method is rooted in a specific questioning style, deep listening and intuitive dialogue.

Rather than relying on a formal trance induction, as the name suggests, Conversational Hypnotherapy works through conversation.

For you it simply feels like a natural, flowing dialogue, yet it’s carefully guided to access the subconscious mind. Through specific language patterns and curiosity-led questioning, we bypass the critical, analytical mind and speak directly to the deeper part of you where beliefs, patterns and inner wisdom reside.

This is a gentle and natural approach to uncover what’s underneath your surface thoughts, allowing insights, clarity and emotional release to emerge organically. There’s no pressure to go deep, go back to your past… it simply meets you exactly where you are.

Conversational Hypnotherapy

  • Is more fluid and intuitive, like a dialogue that bypasses the conscious mind.

  • Doesn’t involve regression or going back into past memories (unless that naturally arises).

  • Allows for powerful shifts through metaphor, language and connection without needing to “dig” or revisit the past directly.

So which one is best for me?

Both approaches are powerful in their own right. Sometimes, one is more appropriate than the other depending on where you’re at, what you’re exploring and how your nervous system responds best.

However, in my practice I like to combine the best of both worlds and my Release and Reclaim 4 week hypnotherapy journey is a beautiful intuitive blend of both approaches.

  • You’re self-aware, you’ve done the mindset work, read the books, tried talk therapy, but deep down, you still feel stuck, like there’s something beneath the surface you just can’t quite reach.

  • You’re exhausted from carrying the weight of the past. Old hurts, disappointments and wounds still linger, shaping how you see yourself and what you believe is possible. No matter how much you tell yourself it will be okay, something keeps pulling you back.

  • As a midwife and IVF nurse, I know first hand that while pregnancy and birth can be an incredibly happy time, for many it brings its own challenges, worries, fears, anxiety and stress. 

    Conceiving, pregnancy and birth are so much more than the physiological processes involved. 

    Your mindset, emotional state, stress levels, limiting beliefs or negative thoughts play a huge role in how well you can navigate this time of your life. 

    While many may have heard of women using hypnosis for birth (and I’ve seen first hand how powerful this can be) there are so many other ways hypnosis and RTT can be used to support you during this time.

  • To begin you’ll be guided into a relaxed state of hypnosis. During this state we’ll safely revisit memories from your past which have created your current beliefs, thoughts and behaviours. With the perspective of your adult self you’ll see these scenes differently and gain understanding of why you came to be this way. This understanding is so important, because once you understand and know why, you’ll be in a better position to change. 

    We are then able to upgrade and replace these old beliefs that never served you anyway with new ones that suit you, your goals and your vision for your life. You’ll then receive your very own personalised hypnosis recording to listen to daily for at least 21 days to really solidify the transformation you want to see within yourself.

  • There is no ‘right’ way to experience hypnosis, in fact it may not feel like you are in hypnosis at all. Sometimes people expect to feel markedly different in hypnosis but this isn’t true for everyone. You can expect to feel relaxed, but you will still be fully awake and not asleep. You will be in control and you will be able to remember the session afterwards. People can often have a big emotional release during hypnosis and tears are common as you process what comes up for you.

  • You will absolutely have full control! I cannot emphasise this enough… you will never do or say something in hypnosis that your mind doesn’t already want you to do. As opposed to losing control, hypnosis really gives you back control and allows you to harness the power of your own mind.

  • We always revisit memories safely and it’s important to remember that if a traumatic scene does come up for you that you are only reviewing the scene, not reliving it. Sometimes it’s helpful to think of the scene playing on a TV or movie screen. Remember that you are in control, you are safe, the event is in the past and that I’m there with you, creating and holding a safe space for you.

  • All sessions are run virtually over video call. Be reassured that hypnotherapy works beautifully online and is just as effective as in person. Plus it allows me to work with clients from all over Australia and the world while you can stay in the comfort of your own home.

  • An RTT session is typically around 2 hours.

    A conversational hypnotherapy session is typically around 60-90 minutes.

  • You will schedule your initial intake session when booking which, depending on availability, can be as soon as you would like to get started. We will then schedule subsequent sessions from here.

  • Everyone responds differently - you may feel a newfound sense of clarity and energy or you may feel introspective as you process what came up for you. In terms of when you’ll notice change, again everyone is different. You may notice an immediate change in your feelings, behaviours, thoughts and actions or the change may build slowly over the coming days and weeks. And sometimes you don’t notice the change at all as it’s happening, it’s not until you look back that you’ll see how far you’ve come.

  • Although the session itself offers incredible insight and profound healing, the personalised hypnosis recording is really where you can rewire and install new beliefs that will enable you to live the life you want. There are two key concepts at play here, the first being that the mind learns through repetition and the second that the mind loves what is familiar and hates what is unfamiliar. So by listening to your recording every day for at least 21 days your mind is learning through repetition and you are also making these new positive and supportive beliefs familiar. Most people also find that they truly enjoy listening to their recording as it’s so relaxing and very different from a generic meditation or mindfulness audio track.

  • You might be wondering why you should to the recording for 21 days? 

    The truth is that 21 days isn't a magic number or a hard and fast rule.

    It is based on some research that it takes 21 days to form a habit. And this is why you’ll see many programs that run for 21 days and a lot of discourse around needing to stick with something for 21 days for it to become automatic. 

    In reality, the time that it takes to change or form a new habit can vary from person to person. Some research shows that it can be as little as 5 days, with the average being 66 days but for some it can take over 250 days.

    So this isn’t to say that you won’t see results before 21 days, or that for others it won’t take longer. But 21 days is achievable and sets a solid foundation for change. 

    And of course you have lifetime access to your recording so you are more than welcome to continue listening for as long as you need to.

  • The hypnosis audio recordings are paired with relaxing music that incorporates binaural beats. Binaural beats cause changes in brainwave activity which encourage deeper levels of relaxation and increased receptivity to positive suggestions. Binaural beats are barely noticeable but you may be able to hear them as a slight pulsing sound. To experience the full benefits of binaural beats it is suggested to listen with headphones.

  • The style of hypnotherapy I practice differs from a typical talk therapy or coaching modality in that it is not designed to be long term but rather designed to get you results quickly in as little as 1-3 sessions.

    Of course there is nuance to this and depending on your history I may suggest up to 6 sessions.

    With that being said my goal is for you to reach your goals and our work together is highly personalised to you. If you decide you need or would like to continue working together for additional sessions or on an ongoing or rolling basis this is most definitely possible.
